A French chocolate shop visit (VIDEO)

Salut! I’ve been focusing on my YouTube channel lately, and the other day I had the pleasure of visiting a French chocolate shop. I shadowed the owner and staff of Bourdillat Chocolaterie outside of Angers, France, and made a video about the experience.

If you’re into French sweets and culture, you’re in for a literal treat. If you’re new here, I’ve been doing some behind-the-scenes style videos including a bakery series that went viral, as I develop the direction of my channel. In that same vein, I decided to reach out to a local chocolate shop.

One major thing I learned is that precision is super important when making chocolate. Specifically, I’m talking about temperature, both of the air and the chocolate. What’s great about that is the shop and workshop are nice and cool (for obvious reasons, even though the French are scared of air conditioning) so the summer heat isn’t a problem if you work at a chocolate shop. It’s not kept at Miami-style temperatures where you need to wear a hoodie, but it’s at a comfortable temp that’s required for making and storing chocolate.

Two words to know:

Chocolatier (the person who specializes in making chocolate confections, add an “e” if it’s a woman)

Chocolaterie (the chocolate shop)

Watch below or click here to watch over on YouTube (and don’t forget to subscribe!). This might be my yummiest video yet!:

What’s your favorite type of chocolate? If you enjoyed my video, would you mind sharing? Merci!

P.S. I have plans this spring to do a video at a winery, goat cheese farm, and more!
